Nailing It: Meet Cymón

This week, we'd like to introduce you to Cymón.

Tell us about yourself?

My name is Cymón (it's pronounced Simone) and I’m an internal communications professional for a large financial institution. I currently live in the Garden State aka New Jersey but, I’m born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. I’ve been married to my wonderful husband for three years.  In my free time, I love to cook, hangout with my family/friends, workout and have dance parties with my husband in our living room. (Party of two, free admission and we’re blasting afrobeat’s, soca, hip hop and techno music LOL)

How did you discover your love for nails?

I’ve always loved painting my nails; I find it so relaxing. Quick story time: My best friend had a temp job at Sally Hansen and it felt like I worked their too! When she received sample nail polishes, we would hangout to paint our nails or go to the nail salon with our pre-selected color. Jumping to present day, I kept doing my nails myself because it makes me feel more confident and I’m saving money! At the beginning of this year my husband said “you’re always watching people paint their nails, why don’t you share yours too?”. Although I was nervous, I created an Instagram account and I’m so happy I did. I’ve connected with so many people and I’m grateful.

What are some tactics you use to overcome obstacles and crush your goals?

I bring it to God and ask for guidance. I’m naturally an overthinker and I need to make lists.  Once it’s written down, I could think through how I’ll tackle it. Also, have patience with yourself – That’s how I crush my goals.

What does self-care mean to you?

Self-care means ME time. This is an opportunity to pour back into myself. Whether it’s working out, washing my hair, doing my nails or reading a book it’s something that allows me to mentally and physically feel good.

Where can we find you?

You could find me at home in the kitchen or on the sofa.  If you want to see me virtually, meet me on Instagram @nails_with_cym_
